REAL BRIDE SERIES | MEGAN | A NATIONAL CATHEDRAL WEDDING
Interview with a Real Bride!
Megan & Rudy – A National Cathedral Wedding
Q: When was your wedding?
A: Our wedding was July 12, 2014 at 6pm.
Q: Where did your wedding & ceremony take place?
A: The ceremony was at the Washington National Cathedral and the reception following was at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner.
Q: How many people attended your wedding?
A: We had what felt like a pretty sizable wedding with 235 guests.
Q: How much time did you have to plan your wedding?
A: We were engaged March 1, 2013 and began planning in April of 2013. We felt like this was a great amount of time to comfortably plan and save for the wedding we imagined.
Q: Did you have help with the wedding planning?
A: We worked with Sweetface Events as our wedding planners. We had meetings with them throughout the entire process but they truly worked with us for their Month of Planning Service. And of course we read as many wedding magazines as possible.
Q: How did you find your photographer?
A: Our photographer story is the best! Our wedding planners were doing a style shoot and needed some “models.” Rudy and I happily (more on my part than his) volunteered. It was slightly overwhelming to dress up and then there were sooooooo many photographers! We met so many wonderful photographers and we were excited because we were in the market for our own photographer! When we got the pictures back we absolutely loved Kristen’s! It was literally fate!!!
Q: Did you meet with them before hiring them? Do you think this helped in the decision making process?
A: After we got the pictures we met with Kristen and this sealed the deal. She was patient, answered our questions, shared a love of Starbucks, and most importantly wanted to work with us to make this the perfect day.
Q: What was one of the most memorable moments from your wedding?
A: The moment we both will remember is sitting down at our reception and taking a moment to just look around the room. It felt like love, happiness, and everything we could have ever dreamed of. It was the best piece of advice we received as we were planning. Don’t forget to take your moment!
A: What is your favorite picture from your day?
Q: They all are amazing. Literally. There isn’t one that doesn’t make us want to be there again. The candid dancing pictures, the formal family pictures, the details—were all amazing!
Q: If there was one thing that you could have done differently, what would it be?
A: If there is one thing I would choose to do differently it would be taking video throughout the night. Instead of having a videographer maybe just assign a few friends to video big moments that way you can go back and look at them later.
Q: What’s the biggest piece of advice you can give to other brides that are planning their wedding?
A: Just breathe. It’s your wedding. Make sure it represents you both. Don’t stress—it goes by too quick!
