Welp! The latest “toy” arrived in the mail last week! It was like Christmas morning for me when the UPS and FedEx trucks stopped by the house. I *finally* got a flash! The top of the line Canon 600ex-rt!!! This thing is sooo high tech… I’m sure I’ve only figured out how to utilize about 5% of its capabilities so far. I am a NATURAL LIGHT photographer. BUT!… I must learn how to use a flash (and several together) for when natural light is not available.

When one is getting into the wedding photography business, it is not uncommon to have a receptions take place indoors, in the evening, with little available light. Darn it! So we MUST use flash. But I don’t want to just learn how to “use” the flash. I want to learn to do it well! So my spare time (ha…ha…) will be spent playing around with this new, high-tech toy!

I also got the Spinlight 360 Neil is always raving about on his blog. I had to try it because I know I wasn’t going to like the straight up flash without any modifiers. (I told you it was like Christmas!). I was, and still am, a bit resistant to flash… but I am forcing myself to embrace it and learn everything I can about it!

I also got one other “big ticket” item, but it is for a personal project that I will be talking about more in the weeks to come! :)
