The first wedding of the season!

I had the AWESOME honor of second shooting for Kelly Ewell at Chris + Vida’s Wedding.  We had gorgeous weather on this spring day!  After the ceremony we headed over to the reception which was held at The Regency at Dominion Valley.  What an awesome venue!  The day was perfect and I had a blast learning from Kelly.  She is so organized and prepared and knows how to make things happen!  I had fun going through my pictures and learned a TON!

I tried to do something new,  called,  “Dutch Angles.”  This is when the picture is intentionally tilted.  I think I over did it in some cases, and I’m not totally in love with it.  I might only do one or two shots next time with this technique.  But it is FUN to try something new.  And when I’m second shooting for Kelly,  she isn’t depending on my for images,  so I’m able to practice,  practice,  practice, and occasionally experiment!  Hehe.  AND Kelly showed me a really neat trick while everyone was on the dance floor.  She taught me how to freeze the action of people dancing while crating streaks with the DJ’s crazy cool lights!

I truly had a blast at this wedding and I can’t wait to assist Kelly with more!  She is such a great photographer and mentor!
