While we were in San Francisco we took a tour of Alcatraz.  I will admit,  I did not relish the idea of going to visit a former maximum security prison.  But it was something that Lee really wanted to do,  so I put on my big-girl pants and went.  And I’m so glad that we did!  It was a little eerie walking around and peering into the jail cells.  But it was more fascinating than “spooky.”  We did the audio-guided tour in which they give you a little mp3 player and headphones.  The whole time you are walking through the prison you are listening to a tour intermixed with former prisoners’ interviews about Alcatraz. It was actually really interesting.  And of course I took the camera!
