Preparing for your wedding is a huge undertaking, with so many big (and small!) details to attend to. One of those smaller, but important, items to consider is how you want to do your makeup for your special day. Here are some important things to consider when preparing to look and feel your most gorgeous for your wedding: What makeup styles do you like? Peruse your favorite bridal magazines and the internet for ideas about colors and whether you want to emphasize your eyes, lips or both!

Pinterest is an endless resource of makeup images. Examples can be helpful when you are either consulting with a makeup artist or shopping for makeup products to apply yourself. Do you want your makeup professionally done or would you like to apply it yourself? Having a pro’s help has many benefits, even if you are comfortable doing your own makeup, including allowing you and your bridal party to sit back, relax and receive some well-deserved pampering!

If you are interested in working with a pro, I recommend researching vendors up to a year in advance. We can book up quickly, especially for those spring and fall months! Ask questions about pricing, setting up a trial, the types of makeup they use, the number of people they can accommodate and whether they will come to you on location or whether you need to travel to their salon.

If you will be applying your own makeup, take a trip to the department store makeup counter or a beauty supply store like Sephora or Ulta to have a consultant help you create a look and purchase the necessary products. Make sure you have primer to put on under your makeup to help it last all night long! As you finalize the makeup look you are wanting, remember that you will need to apply a bit more makeup than you normally would for your day-to-day application. You don’t want to look washed out in your wedding photos, rather you want to look bright with your facial features highlighted. So don’t be afraid to define your eyes and amp up your cheeks and lips with a bit of color!

Wishing you all the best for a magical and romantic wedding day! – Emily
