I love photographing weddings and I also love working with other photographers. So it’s no wonder that I enjoy second shooting. On the Saturdays that I don’t have a wedding of my own on the books, I still like to be out shooting weddings, gaining experience, and discussing ideas/thoughts with other photographers.

When I second shoot at weddings I’m usually shooting digital because that is what most photographers in the industry shoot. But I’ve had the chance to second shoot for other film photographers a couple of times and let me tell you… it’s a whole different experience. There is something different about film photographers; maybe it’s our thought process, the medium that we use, or the similar challenges and accomplishments. But it’s almost like a sisterhood (and brotherhood! can’t forget the guys) where we just “get” each other.

I recently had the privilege of second shooting for Katie DeLorme Photography at Lost Creek Winery and I had a blast! Katie was so upbeat and funny. I learned a lot from her working by her side and had fun every moment of the day. This was a shot that I got as the bride was walking downstairs, just before the first look. I love to capture these “in-between” moments!
