Lavender Portraits | Northern Virginia Family Photographer

Victoria is an incredibly talented and faith-filled singer and songwriter (please go check out her music on iTunes, you will be so glad you did!). I love her music and after following her on Instagram (and buying her album!) I said to myself, “I really want to collaborate with this young lady!” I reached out to Victoria to see if she was interested in doing an inspiration portrait session, and I told her I had the perfect location in mind. I’m a pretty quiet and shy person by nature and so I agonize before reaching out to someone like this. So I was absolutely thrilled when Victoria graciously agreed to meet me out at the lavender farm. Oh, the lavender farm…

One of my most favorite portrait sessions to date (though I feel like they’re ALL my favorite) was at a lavender farm back in Virginia. Not long after moving to Alabama I just had to see if there was any remote chance that someone was trying to grow lavender here in the South (where lavender “shouldn’t” grow). Much to my delight I found Lavender Wynde Farm where the lavender is thriving in Lora’s front yard thanks to her (and her family’s) determination and hard work. Each year around harvest time Lora hosts a u-pick event and she also sells her amazing lavender products at The Green Street Market in Huntsville. I bought her roll on perfume, linen spray, and (my favorite) lavender syrup. I’m also returning to the farm this month for one of her lavender wreath making workshops!
