New Leaf | Northern Virginia Photographer
Well…
I started my photography business, Kristen Lynne Photography, in January of this year. I didn’t really know what the future would hold for my new business. I didn’t know if it would be a success or a flop. I have had my fair share of challenges, but I’ve also been blessed with many successes. Because of my business I have been able to meet new people, reconnect with friends, and become closer to those I’ve known. Owning a business is a true test because nothing is certain; sometimes you don’t know where you next paycheck will come from. But I strongly believe that I will get out of my business, what I put into my business. I know it takes a lot of dedication and perseverance to get a business off the ground and running, so I’m working extra hard at it! And above all, I have to trust that God will provide, that He wants me to be successful doing what I love, and that I have the ability to touch peoples’ lives in a positive way with my business.
As I reflect over the past year I know I have learned a lot. I have had some awesome experiences over like second shooting for other photographers, doing my own photo sessions, going to the PPA expo in Atlanta, taking photography classes to reinforce what I know, doing a styled shoot, joining networking groups, and meeting other photographers. As I learn new things my goals and dreams for my business evolve. I have made short-term and long-term goals as things present themselves, and each new goal I set I feel that I am turning over a new leaf. (I’m sure there will be a blog post coming about goals!) But one of my short-term goals is to wind down my portfolio period and re-vamp the business!!!!!
For the past few months I have started to zero in on what I want Kristen Lynne Photography to be. Along with my goals for refining my photography skills, I also want the Kristen Lynne Photography “brand” to be refined. I have collaborated with several people in this decision making process and I am SUPER excited about the changes to come. My goal is to relaunch the business just in time for its one-year anniversary in January.
Some of the “store front” changes will include a new logo, a website separate from the blog, a facelift for the blog, amazing marketing materials, and fresh products to offer. Behind the scenes I will be upgrading some equipment, getting a new computer (aka, my other workhorse, aside from my cameras), redesigning my office space, putting the finishing touches on my workflow process, and revisiting my short-term and long-term goals. Whew! By January I want the business to turn over a new leaf and have a set of fresh goals to achieve!!!
