I specialize in fine art boudoir photography. Often times women don’t know where to start when buying lingerie for their boudoir session. Before we dive in to “what to wear” let’s think about the purpose of the session. I feel boudoir sessions should be about the woman as a whole, and not her body parts. I want each woman to feel beautiful inside and out. The goal for boudoir sessions is to show these women how beautiful they are, JUST as they ARE… the purpose is not to have pictures of their bums in g-strings!

So with that in mind, I think it’s important to select lingerie that compliments your body type through colors, shapes, and textures. Chemises are a GREAT option for women who may be a little self conscious about certain areas of their bodies. Sheer chemises are very elegant and feminine looking and are great for photo sessions. Again, it’s not about the body parts, but the woman as a whole. This is why I would also have them wear a simple bra and panties under the sheer chemise.

There are so many options out there to choose from. My favorite colors are neutrals and pastels. These soft colors are always flattering against skin tones and look so luxurious on film!
