Announcing a New Series: Film Friday | Virginia Film Wedding Photographer
So this all started a couple of days ago when I was on my way out the door from getting my haircut at my friend’s salon. When she was finished blow drying my awesome new haircut she said, “can you write a blog post for me?” Of course I agreed! She asked if I could write a blog post about the difference between film and digital photography. Since we are both small business owners we have many similarities about how we run our businesses. And I love the perspective that we can offer each other. One example is that we both blog. Jacquelyn’s blog is filled with all sorts of great information about beauty tips. Things that makeup artists might take for granted or think are common knowledge. Fundamental things that they learn in school and in training. To them, these things seem to obvious, but in reality, they may not be obvious to us common folk who get our beauty education from the commercials we see on television! And the same goes the other way. Just because I understand the basics about photography, doesn’t mean I should assume everyone else does too! So here it goes…
Over the last year or so I’ve developed (pun totally intended) a love for film photography. I am starting a new series here in the Journal called, “Film Friday.” It will be my goal to share a favorite film image each Friday. But to kick-off this new series I will be doing a mini series called, “Film vs. Digital” where I will explain various aspects (technical aspects, and totally non-technical artsy-fartsy aspects) about the differences between the two and why I’ve grown to love film so much. So be on the look-out tomorrow for the first post in this new series, Film vs Digital – Part 1 – Color.
I want to shout out a very special thank you to Jacquelyn for lighting a fire under my butt to do this! And ladies, if you ever need an amazing hair stylist (like come on, we all do, yes?) go see Jacquelyn and her business Enlightened Styles! Tell her I sent you, because like every exemplary small business, she has a referral program! Woo hoo! ;) Here is the link to her awesome blog, and don’t forget to sign up for her emails. I love getting her tips every week! The photo above of Jacquelyn was taken very impromptu in-between our clients at a marathon day of photo sessions we did together. And FYI, it’s on film!!! ;)
Melissa Dorn - Awesome! Can’t wait for this series! :)
kristenlynnephotography - Thank Melissa. But don’t just take my word for it. Film is making a huge come back and I couldn’t be happier!
Jacquelyn Rodriguez - I love it!! I can’t wait to read the series.
kristenlynnephotography - Thanks girl! I get a little nerdy in some of it, but I will be doing a “summery” post on Friday 10/3/14 that I will share with you!
